Research guide / Manual coffee By Counterform

OXO Compact Cold Brew: plan the whole batch.

Separate the brewing container, finished concentrate, dilution and refrigerator storage.

Who this is for

A buyer who wants a small make-ahead concentrate setup and has space to drain and store it.

Choose for a make-ahead routine

OXO’s Compact 11237500 manual lists 16 fl oz of concentrate from its starting batch, before dilution. Choose it for a make-ahead routine with room to steep, drain and refrigerate. The listed yield is a manufacturer reference, not our brewing test or a guaranteed result.

Keep what works. If your existing cold-brew process already fits your refrigerator and schedule, a new brewer may add little.

OXO Compact Cold Brew Coffee Maker

11237500 · empty draining assembly

A tapered smoke-colored brewing container on a dark base, seated over an open glass carafe. The removable cork stopper rests beside the empty assembly.

  1. Brewer over carafe

This is the assembled draining position, after steeping. The upper brewer sits on the open receiving carafe. No liquid flow or internal valve is simulated.

  2. Separate storage vessel

The glass carafe is used separately for serving or refrigerated storage with its cork stopper. The stopper is beside the assembly here; it does not close the receiving carafe while the brewer is above it.

  3. Plan the waiting & cleanup

This route needs time to steep, drain and clean. Brewing-container volume and finished concentrate are different quantities. Keep a cold-brew method that already fits your routine.

An interpretive empty exterior in one documented assembly pose. Glass optics, wall thickness, lid and seams are simplified; hidden Rainmaker perforations, filter, gasket, valve and threads are omitted. No calibrated capacity, seal check, nesting envelope or refrigerator fit is established.

Four parts of the routine.

OXO’s 11237500 manual gives 12–24 hours on the counter or 20–24 hours in the refrigerator before draining. Plan the waiting period as well as the equipment. Follow the full instructions; this is not our brewing test.

  • Prepare suitable coffee and water in the brewing container.
  • Allow the prescribed steeping time for the chosen conditions.
  • Drain and handle the finished concentrate with space for the receiving container.
  • Dilute for your drink and refrigerate/store according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Brewing volume, yield and storage are different.

OXO’s starting batch uses 175 g of coffee and 24 fl oz / 700 mL of water, with a listed yield of 16 fl oz of concentrate. That manufacturer reference is not 24 fl oz of finished coffee and is not a measured yield or guarantee from Counterform.

The manual suggests one part concentrate to two or three parts water or milk. Coffee retention, strength and serving size change what you drink. Keep the brewing volume, concentrate and diluted drink separate when deciding how many batches your routine needs.

Small storage can still mean temporary workspace.

Plan a place to prepare the batch and a stable place to drain it. Then measure the refrigerator space for the stored concentrate, including the lid and any height needed to remove it. Nesting parts for storage does not make the brewing and draining positions identical.

If you want a device to come out only when needed, separate temporary counter use from permanent refrigerator storage. The measurement worksheet helps you record both.

Choose cold brew for the schedule you want.

A make-ahead process may suit someone happy to plan batches. It is less useful when you want to decide on a hot drink and brew immediately. Compare AeroPress/V60 if an on-demand manual routine is closer to your need.

This guide makes no health or “low acid” benefit claim. We have not measured acidity or tasted the concentrate ourselves. Coffee choice, preparation and dilution remain variables.

A few useful answers.

Is container capacity the amount I will drink?

No. Coffee retention, the manufacturer’s recipe, dilution and your serving size affect the result. Brewing-container volume and finished drink yield are different.

Can I make immediate hot coffee with this routine?

It is designed around a steeped, make-ahead concentrate process. An on-demand hot brewer may be the more relevant choice.
